Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance in meeting Japanese Ambassador to Tehran said presence of foreign countries at Tehran International Book Fair is an opportunity for activating cultural ties among nations.
According to Public Relations and Information Center of Ministry of Culture, Mr. Abbas Salehi said attendance of Japan as special gust of forthcoming Tehran book fair will create such opportunity for the two nation to become more familiar with each other.
He added that Tehran International Book Fair is one of the most important cultural events in the Middle East and millions of Iranian from across the country visit this exhibition.
Mr. Salehi talking about historical relations between Iran and Japan said diplomatic relations between the two countries dates back 90 years and Tehran and Tokyo have signed their first cultural agreement some 60 years ago.
Minister of culture said Iran and Japan can promote their relations in areas such the cinema, music, visual arts, theater, literature and translation and by doing so people of two countries will become more acquainted with two great civilizations of Asia.
He added that Japanese Embassy in Tehran has been quite active in cultural areas in Iran and we are ready to follow and continue such activities.
Mr. Salehi also called for religious and literary dialog between the two countries.
The Japanese ambassador, Mr. Hiroyasu Kobayashi talking about long diplomatic and cultural relation between his country and Iran said he is glad for working as Japanese envoy to Tehran and that he enjoys his job.
He added that Iran and Japan have historical relations and many Iranian goods and products were exported to Japan through the Silk Road.
Mr. Kubayashi said Iranian Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance is very active in cultural and literary areas and that we need its further advice to improve of Tehran- Tokyo ties.
