Iranian New Year (Naurooz) celebrated in Spain
Through joint efforts of Iranian Cultural Attaché Office in Spain and Asian House Cultural Institute, Naurooz festivities was held on Saturday afternoon by Iranian expatriates, in a cultural center in Barcelona.
According to Public Relations and Information Center of Ministry of Culture, the ceremony started with playing of Iranian National Anthem and then Mr. Alireza Esmaeili, Iranian Cultural Attaché to Spain, welcomed the audience and congratulated the festive occasion of Naurooz which marks the beginning of Iranian New Year. He then talked about this ancient tradition of celebrating the beginning of New Year by our ancestors throughout Iranian history. Iranian Attaché to Spain said this great festivity is about rebirth of nature and symbol of love, kindness and giving away any unpleasant feeling toward others, adding that this tradition has also been embraced by other nations. Mr. Esmaeili said Naurooz was being celebrated before introduction of Islam into Iran but has continued as of today. He thanked Spanish government and officials for advancing cultural cooperation with Islamic Republic of Iran. The celebration continued with performance of several Iranian musical groups which was highly appreciated by Iranian expatriates and Spaniards attending this festive event.
