Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance on Monday met the German Ambassador to Tehran and said there are lots of opportunities and potentials for promotion of bilateral relations including Tehran Book Fair which is the largest of its kinds in the region and that publishing houses of two countries can work for promotion of art and cultural ties between the two nations.
According to Public Relations and Information Center of Ministry of Culture, Mr. Abbas Salehi, recalling long history of cultural, political and economic relations between Iran and Germany said Tehran- Berlin relations have expanded in recent years especially during Mr. Hassan Rouhani’s term of office.
Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance said cultural ties because of their lasting nature are more effective than political and economic relations in bringing nations closer to each other adding that the connecting point between Iran and Germany has been art and cultural ties.
Mr. Salehi elaborating on Iran’s potentials and talents in areas such as Cinema, Music, visual and performance arts said these sectors provide good opportunity for art and cultural exchange between the two countries.
He added that in near future we will hold ceremonies commemorating the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution and on this occasion numerous film and music festivals will be held and we welcome participation of Germans in these cultural events.
Mr. Salehi said taking part in Frankfort International Book Fair is a good opportunity for promotion of our cooperation and invited German publishers to attend Tehran International Book Fair.
He also talked about International Book Award held annually in Iran and said this award is presented to foreign writers and their works Islamic studies. The prize is awarded by Iranian President and this occasion also can be used to boost cultural interactions.
German Ambassador to Tehran, Mr. Micheal Klor Brechtold, meanwhile said relations between Iran and Germany is very old and quite extensive with considerable cultural potentials.
He added that through cultural relations we can strengthen ties between the two nations. Mr. Brechtold also expressed his government’s willingness to expand relations with Iran in various fields including film industry, music, visual and performance arts.
Referring to the existing Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries, German Ambassador said such MOUs create proper opportunities for bilateral cooperation in cultural areas.
