Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance in a meeting with Italian Ambassador to Tehran said Iran and Italy have many things in common in cultural and civilization domains and could promote their relations in publication and media sectors.
According to Public Relations and Information Center of Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mr. Abbas Salehi said concrete measures have been taken by both governments to expand art and cultural ties between the two nations.
Commenting on participation of Italy at Tehran International Book Fair, Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance said two countries by taking part in each other’s book fair will provide an opportunity for their publishers and writers to boost their cooperation.
He also called for further efforts to translate written works by Iranian and Italian writers and authors from Persian to Italian and vice Versa.
Mr. Salehi added that exchange of reporters and journalists is another possible sector for expansion of relations between Tehran and Rome.
Talking about the existing Letter of Understanding between the two countries on art and cultural cooperation, Mr. Salhei said this MOU must be extended and revised based on new perspectives.
Italian Ambassador to Tehran, Mr. Maruro Conciatori, for his part said Iran and Italy have long history of art and cultural relations and cooperation.
Italian Ambassador said we have taken part at various sections of Fajr International Festival and will continue our participation in art and cultural events taking place in Iran in the future.
He also expressed his government’s willingness to cooperate with Iran on contemporary art museums and said expansion of media relation will help people of two countries to have better knowledge and understanding from each other.
