Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance met Senegal's Minister of Culture on Saturday Aug.5 and discussed issues of mutual concern.
According to Public Relations and Information Center of Ministry of Culture, Mr. Seyyed Reza Salehi Amiri in his talks with visiting Senegalese Minister of Culture said Tehran and Dakar can cooperate in various art and cultural sectors.
Talking about Iranian cinema and film industry, Mr. Salehi Amiri said Iranian cinema has prominent position in the region and has won numerous international awards in leading global film festivals.
Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance told his Senegalese counterpart that dialogue between two countries' elites can contribute to expansion of bilateral cultural ties adding that holding cultural weeks and book fairs will also help promotion of relations between Tehran and Dakar.
Mr. Salehi Amiri said in Tehran Contemporary Art Museum there are large collections of masterpieces by Iranian and world renowned painters with estimated value of 3 billion Dollars. He went on to say that each night 110 plays are staged in theaters across Tehran.
Mr. Salehi Amiri Said Iran is country with ancient culture and civilization adding that expansion of relations between Tehran and Dakar will have major impact on development of ties between Iran and African countries.
Senegalese Minister of Culture for his part said visiting Iran underlines the will of two nations to boost their bilateral relations and cooperation.
He said Senegal is one the west African countries which has embassy in Tehran adding that his country needs Iran's assistance in various art and cultural sectors such as cinema, music and repairing of mosques and manuscripts.
