An advisor to Minister of Culture and Managing Director of the Ministerial Office of the same ministry in a meeting with the visiting EU cultural official called for promotion of teaching of Persian language in European countries.
According to Public Relations and Information Center of Ministry of Culture, Mr. Amin Aref Nia said Iran is historically an ancient and geographically a vast country with rich culture and civilization.
Talking about mandate of Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mr. Aref Nia said Policy making, supervising and supporting all art and cultural activities in the country is assigned to Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.
He hoped that talks between Islamic Republic of Iran and European Union on cultural affairs could lead to expansion of their cultural ties.
Advisor to Minister of Culture and Islamic guidance said relations between Iran and EU during the presidency of Mr. Hassan Rouhani has entered a new phase and following the nuclear deal, bilateral ties have grown further.
Talking about widespread cooperation between Iran and world community on cultural sector he said holding reciprocal cultural weeks with various countries is one of the fields of cultural cooperation with outside world adding that Tehran is willing to hold cultural weeks with European countries.
Referring to appointment of the holy city of Mashhad as the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2017, he said during the current year, numerous cultural activities will take place in the city.
The European cultural official while calling for boosting of cultural ties between EU member states and Iran said EU is willing to work with other nations on safeguarding cultural heritage, exchange of cultural experts and scholars.
The visiting official said we in EU attach great importance to culture because culture will help dialog among nations adding that EU is interested in cooperation with other countries in undertaking joint cultural projects.
