Minister of Culture: Government is fully committed to respect dignity of writers and scholars
Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, speaking at the 34th Book of the Year Award said the government is determined to respect the dignity of thinkers, writers and scholars and these groups have shown cordiality, fraternity and unity in respect to the incumbent government. According to Public Relations and information Center of Ministry of Culture, during the ceremony marking 34th World Award for Book of the Year of Islamic Republic of Iran at the Vahdat Hall in downtown Tehran, which also was attended by President Hassan Rouhani and a group of local and foreign dignitaries, Mr. Seyyed Reza Salehi Amiri said the most important achievements of the incumbent government is confidence building which needs to be safeguarded all the time. Mr. Salehi Amiri said in the past year, more that 65 thousands titles of book were published in the country that 15 thousands of them were translated works and some 45 thousands were new titles. He added that we tried to make some corrections on books through discussions with publishers so that every one can create and publish their works adding that in an atmosphere of conflict one can not create cultural work. During the ceremony, award winner writers receive their prize from President Hassan Rouhani.
