Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance said Iran- Russia relations goes beyond economic ties and extends to cultural relations which is more durable, adding that based on cultural relations nations can establish more firm political and economic ties.
He said, now that relations between Tehran and Moscow have entered to an important strategic phase, holding a ceremony commemorating the historical relations between the two nations is a thoughtful measure.
Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance said Iran – Russia relations have experienced lots of ups and downs throughout the history and during the Qajar dynasty some painful treaties were signed by two sides which still their bitterness is felt by Iranians but added that he believes that today Russia is quite different from what it was in the past.
Mr. Salehi Amiri said now that in one hand the west is targeting the foundations of the value systems of other nations and on the other hand extremism and terrorism is threatening every society, expansion of cultural relations among Eurasian countries and Iran and Russia in particular is of great importance.
He said on the occasion of 200th anniversary of Iranology in Russian city of Saint Petersburg, he has proposed the first congress of Eurasia Iranology in 2018 as well as holding of an exhibition of written Iranian Islamic works in Hermitage Museum.
Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance said we live in a region which is suffering from numerous conflicts and these days no one is immune from acts of terrorism. He added that Middle East needs Iran- Russia cooperation as well as other countries to confront terrorists and Takfiri way of thinking.
He said for confounding terrorism in Mussel and Baghdad we should try to eradicate this ideology and this requires a two pronged military and cultural war against terrorism.
